
Our Programs
F-YOU offers a wide variety of programs for diverse audiences of participants. However, our core programs continue to prioritize young men in custody who are considered at-risk and/or gang-affiliated. Through our core programs, F-YOU is able to introduce the F-YOU model and directly engage participants in conversations about concepts of forgiveness while helping them gain skills in areas such as anger management, conflict resolution, resilience and more.
F-YOU Core Programs
Intro to F-You
The Intro to F-YOU Program is a 4 week course, offering participants an immersive experience in understanding the foundational principles of FYOU, with a focus on restorative justice and the multifaceted nature of forgiveness. This comprehensive course delves into the intricacies of forgiveness, covering four distinct types: self-forgiveness, forgiving others, being forgiven by others, and achieving personal redemption. Participants engage in a dynamic blend of coursework, interactive games, facilitated discussions, and written reflection exercises, ensuring a holistic and enriching learning environment. Upon completion of the program, participants are awarded a certificate.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 15 participants per session or highschool students (14-18) who may be disengaged from the conventional educational system in cohorts of up to 30 participants per session.
Upon completion of this course, participants will acquire a diverse set of valuable skills, including increased proficiency in emotional intelligence, conflict management, empathy, self-reflection and awareness, critical analysis, anger management, social skills, team building, communication, and public speaking.
Look Both Ways
The Look Both Ways program is a 5-week journey focused on self-reflection, post-traumatic stress, mental awareness, mental illness, and anxiety. Through a carefully crafted curriculum, participants engage in 10 assignments, which include various writing tasks such as storytelling, poetry, songwriting, letter writing, and journaling. The program encourages students to delve into their own vulnerabilities through creative expression. Throughout the five weeks, participants explore self-understanding by reading assigned materials, listening to curated songs, and actively participating in online discussions. Those who choose to submit assignments will receive guidance on channeling their ideas into reflective writing pieces, learning skills such as formatting sentences to effectively communicate feelings and crafting meaningful journal entries. The Look Both Ways program empowers participants to embrace self-discovery and express their narratives through creative exploration.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 30 participants per session.
Upon completion of this course, participants will earn an OCAD Continuing Education certificate, facilitating increased access to post-secondary education. Furthermore, participants will acquire new skills, including technical writing and critical analysis. On a behavioral level, individuals will demonstrate enhanced self-reflection and awareness, improved communication abilities, heightened confidence, an increased sense of well-being, and a greater sense of accomplishment.
B3: Bars Behind Bars: Music Business
The B3: Bars Behind Bars - Music Business program, is a 7-week program where participants gain a foundational understanding of the inner workings of the mainstream music industry. From the inception of songs to their release, this program delves into the essential elements of the music business. Through engaging in-class sessions, participants will partake in discussions covering diverse topics, including the evolution of commercial music trends, artists' ownership rights, and the transformative impact of Napster on the shift towards online membership streaming within the music industry. These conversations are crucial for providing contextual insights into the rapidly evolving and dynamic landscape of entertainment industry platforms.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of up to 20 participants per cycle.
Upon program completion, participants will earn a credit from OCAD. Participants will be able to identify and describe the basic elements that make up the infrastructure of the music industry, as well as the individual roles that play a part throughout the entire process of producing and releasing music commercially. Additionally, participants will gain skills in Budgeting, creating a business plan, teambuilding, time management, self-discipline, creative writing.
Team Building
Our Team Building Sessions offer a series of 3-hour, standalone sessions within correctional institutions, featuring engaging team-building activities. These sessions, conducted once a week over the course of a year, leverage games and exercises to bring young adults together and foster a sense of camaraderie. The carefully designed activities aim to not only strengthen team dynamics but also enhance social skills, providing valuable tools for coping with trauma and other challenges. Participants can anticipate a transformative journey where they develop resilience, build connections, and cultivate a supportive community environment within the institution.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 20 participants per session.
At the end of the session, participants will receive a certificate and experience heightened social skills. They will develop increased coping mechanisms for managing PTSD and trauma, find stress reduction benefits, and acquire essential skills in communication, team building, and more.
Up The Score
The Up the Score program, in collaboration with the Jays Care Foundation, is an exclusive 3-week initiative tailored specifically for those incarcerated in federal institutions. This sports-based team-building program offers a dynamic and engaging experience, encompassing activities such as obstacle courses, baseball, and basketball. Throughout the program, participants will engage in a series of skills and drills, along with exciting challenges designed to foster teamwork, communication, and personal growth. The unique blend of sports and team-building elements aims to create a supportive and transformative environment within the federal institutions involved.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 75 participants per session.
Upon completion of this program, participants will demonstrate enhanced skills in communication, problem-solving, trust-building, teamwork, physical fitness, and leadership. Additionally, participants will receive a Certificate in Sports Leadership awarded by the Jays Care Foundation.
Special Guest Speaker Series
Welcome to the Special Guest Speaker Series, a bi-weekly program that curates defining moments through reflective and insightful discussions. This series invites special guests from diverse industries, including sports, entertainment, and community leadership, to share their life experiences and lessons. These sessions engage young incarcerated adults in federal or provincial institutions in thought-provoking conversations that inspire, motivate, and provide unique insights from accomplished individuals across various fields.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 80 participants per session.
Upon completion of the session, participants will enhance their communication skills, expand their networking abilities, and refine critical and self-analysis. The program also encourages self-reflection, fostering the development of social-building skills. Furthermore, participants will gain valuable industry and sector knowledge based on insights shared by the featured speaker.
MPC Live: Intro to Beatmaking
The MPC Live: Intro to Beatmaking program, is a transformative 5-week workshop series led by Juno-winning producer Rich Kidd. This certificate program is designed to immerse participants in the art of beatmaking, utilizing an MPC beat machine generously donated by the acclaimed music group A Tribe Called Red. Throughout the program, participants will delve into the essential elements of composing a song, understanding musical arrangements, and mastering the intricacies of drum programming and song composition. Participants will be immersed in a hands-on experience where creativity meets skill, guided by the expertise of an industry-leading professional.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ in cohorts of 80 participants per session.
Upon completion of the program, participants will be awarded a certificate and acquire proficiency in beatmaking with an MPC beat machine. They will also attain enhanced knowledge in the essential elements of composing a song, encompassing musical arrangements, drum programming, and song composition.
The Veteran Program
Introducing the Veteran Program, a comprehensive 24-week initiative that brings together war veterans with invaluable experiences from war zones to mentor young individuals identified with gang involvement in custody. This program is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by both parties, focusing on PTSD, mental health, and fostering an environment for shared storytelling and skill exchange. Through a combination of group sessions and personalized one-on-one mentoring, this program aims to create a supportive and transformative space, encouraging healing, resilience, and mentorship for those navigating the complexities of post-war experiences and gang involvement.
This program is designed to engage incarcerated adults 18+ who have gun charges in cohorts of 6 participants per cycle.
Upon program completion, participants will experience a decrease in isolation, along with enhanced social skills and improved mental health management capabilities.

Community-Based Programs and Events
F-YOU Project Workshop Series:
Over the past nine years, F-YOU has organized more than 400 safe space events, providing a platform for individuals who have faced trauma to share their journeys of resilience. These gatherings offer a supportive environment for participants to express how they have navigated and continue to grapple with surviving immensely challenging circumstances.
